Diving Week End - Sardegna
Finally we opened this year "diving season".
From the 2nd to the 4th of june we went to the north-west coast of Sardegna, to a very cool Dive Center: Capo Galera Diving near Alghero city.
We left Milan on thursday at 17.30, and after a 4 HOURS of autostrada (usually it takes 60 mins) we made it to take the "traghetto".
The ship was supposed to leave at 20.30 so if you make a simple count, you notice that we were really lucky that 60% of the passengers were stucked with us in the traffic before Genova, and that we all got to the harbour with 1 hour delay, so the ship had no other choice that wait for us. After a nice and smooth trip, we reached "Porto Torres" on friday at 8.15.
When we arrived we noticed that weather was kind of "wintery" and that the sky was much darker than we would expect for this time of the year.
Traveling from "Porto Torres" to Alghero we hit some rain, so the scenario was not very encouraging. We reached Capo Galera after a 50mins trip, and Pier, one of the diving guides, gave us one shocking news: water was at 13°C!!!
So, no sun at all, lots of wind, and freezing water...
To be clear, not very good for starting a "Diving Weekend in Sardegna". In any case at noon we were underwater... First dive of year 2006.
Afternoon was quite dull: Rain and more rain so we took a nap and afterwards we went for a walk at Alghero.
Next Day the sky was totally open. I took this picture after breakfast. It is extremely relaxing to have breakfast and lunch with such a wonderful view. So saturday and sunday were warm and sunny. Water was still cold but we did some great dives. Shame I took no pictures underwater.
We also visited the "Grotta di Nettuno" (Neptune's Cave). A magical place full of incredible stalagmites and stalactites. You can see a picture at the end of this article and if you click on it you will see a slideshow with some snapshots inside the cave.
